character rules
o1. The secret world of vampires and werewolves.
Before we get going on anything to do with what you are and aren’t allowed to do, I’m going to make a couple of things clear. We admins have pictured this site in a pretty specific way when it comes to how certain parts are portrayed. And the first and foremost rule is HUMANS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE WORLD OF VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES! (the only exception being the human pets, ‘cos well, it’d be pretty hard to not know about it if you’re a human play thing to a vampire or a werewolf.) Sorry to go all caps and bold on you, but it’s a really REALLY important concept that you need to grasp. So that’s why we’re starting off with it.
o2. Stay in character.
Vampires are NOT vegetarian. Werewolves are fucking brutal. Vamps and werewolves are NOT besties. NO EXCEPTIONS. Hell, not even all vamps will be friends with the other vamps. It’s not a hard rule to follow and abide by, so please don’t ignore it. A lot of you have probably been on sites with us before. Vampires and Werewolves just wouldn’t interact in a friendly way. And you know how we feel about blood and guts and gore and stuff. We want this site filled with it. And that’s why we’re coming up with this rule.
o3. Hybrids.
No joke, these are going to be an important, but also a very scarce being on this site. Hybrids are only going to be canon characters (no original hybrid characters will be accepted), and unfortunately that means first come first serve (sorry to those of you that didn’t hear about this site till later.) We’re going to be especially strict on the applications for these characters too. We would love them to be played right. Please try and keep all parts relevant. For a hybrid to have been produced, a vampire and werewolf wouldn’t have shacked up together playing happy families. The hybrid would have been created from some form of brutal raping or whatever. Be imaginative, but not happy and fuzzy creative; blood and guts spewing from a fresh gash caused by a machete creative. :] Now. Onto the:
general site rules.
o1. Site Rating.
This site is rated “R”, but that pretty much comes as standard for most RP sites these days. There will be numerous occurrences of torture, rape, brutality, masochism and basically anything else that goes along with a site rating of “R”. Those of you that are easily offended may want to stop reading now and instead, find a site that would be more suited to your needs.
o2. Registering.
When registering with the site, you need a character name, and you need to register with it all in lower case. Eg: john smith. (A wrong example would be “John Smith”.) As with every site, we don’t want to see stupid usernames, and quite frankly, I’m too lazy to think up an example. You all know what I mean when I say “stupid usernames” so I’m not even going to waste my time. Just don’t do it.
o3. Application.
Yes we have an application. No, it’s not going to be that painful to fill out. When you’re done, post it where you’re told to and then wait for one of us admins to get to it, which we will do in our own good time. We have lives too… and we’re sorry if we don’t get to your app the second we sign onto the computer. Don’t bug us about it, because it will probably only put us in a bad mood. Just give us time. We’re only human.
o3. Posting.
This is probably one of the areas where we will be the strictest. Posting is a huge deal for us. We’re a LITERATE RP site. That means we want good quality and lengthy posts. The majority of our users aim for at least a 500 word minimum, but there are also the members that write up to and over 1,500 words per post. Don’t let the site down with your n00by one-lining spam please. Put effort into your post and take pride in your characters. It’s not much to ask. And while I’m on the topic of posting, good spelling is key too. You don’t have to be the worlds best speller, but if you post like shit then I will be forced to shoot you. Microsoft Word comes with a spell checker, and it’s GOD! There are also numerous ones located around the internet, much like this one here . Use them. We will be monitoring posts around the site, and we will intervene in any topics that we don’t think are up to par. I’m not saying you have to post 98765487454646 words. All we ask is minimum 3 good sized paragraphs for an RP post and for you to post at least twice a week (preferably IC, but that’s up to you.) Stick to that and you’ll be fine. :] PS. Keep OOC and IC topics separate. Only post OOC in the OOC section, and the same for IC topics.
o4. Drama and Plots.
Are fun. As long as they don’t revolve around heartache and love that’s been lost. Unless the love has been brutally murdered and the parts scattered in all four corners of the earth. Then it’s ok. But seriously. The site doesn’t revolve around your character and their lives. Heartache/love/break-ups is so clichéd. Be creative when it comes to your character plot ideas.
o5. Characters.
Multiple characters are cool. We all love to have them. But don’t make them unless you genuinely feel you can keep up with the pace. You’re allowed a maximum of 4 different characters, and naturally, as with any other site, 2 of them MUST be male. This is to prevent the imbalance of sexes that usually happens on most sites. You know the drill. If you have reached your max. number of characters and want to make a new one, PM an admin asking to delete one of your old characters, and they’ll be happy to do that to make way for your new one.
o6. Canon Characters.
Yes we have canons. Yes they are important. Yes you do have to respect them. Being a canon is an important role. Do it properly and stay in character and we’ll be happy admins.
o7. Mary Sues.
Everyone has flaws. Give your character some. It’s not freaking hard. If you submit a “perfect” character, you will get declined. It’s as simple as that.
o8. Power Playing and God Modding.
You can’t RP an action for anyone other than your character… but being on a literate RP site… you already know that. I’m not going to waste my time explaining this. Just don’t do it.
o9. Extra Stuff
Be polite. Manners don’t cost a thing. Respect your fellow member, yadda yadda yadda. You’re not morons. You know what goes in this section. The only thing I am going to mention is if someone creates a set of images for you to use in your signature, credit them. It’s just common courtesy.
We’re allowing celebs and models as PB’s, but we really don’t want to see any cartoon characters or randoms that you found on MySpace. That’s just not how we roll around here.
NO MORE SCENE QUEEN PLAY-BYS
Don’t stretch the board with your sig. Pretty self explanatory. I’d say no bigger than 500 pixels in width by 300 pixels high. That’s a fairly standard signature size for a banner.
Abide by our simple rules and we’ll all get along just fine. We’re not unreasonable people, we just don’t like to see something we envisioned going to shit because no one followed our easy set up.
But most importantly, have fun. After all, Role Play is all about enjoyment.
